Dear Golfer;

Thank you for inquiring about County Golf Association. We are please to give you a few details about CGA.

CGA was established in 1975.  Through the years, the membership has grown from 25 – 50 players to 500 – 700 members .  CGA is committed to fun and integrity of competition in the great game of golf.  All of our tournaments are conducted in accordance with USGA rules & local rules.

CGA conducts 90+ events per calendar year.   The schedule involves regular weekly events each Monday and Thursday with morning and afternoon starts.  Generally, the start times are 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.  However, we do occasionally have events which requires tee times. These tee times will be given out the day before each event around 3 p.m.

For the most part, out tournaments are conducted in two formats: Individual Stroke Play and Better Ball of Pair.  All tournaments are flighted into Regular, Senior, Super Senior and Ladies divisions.  Regulars are age 54 and below. Seniors are those 55 and above.  Super Seniors are those whose age and hdcp total 90 or higher.  Prizes are awarded in both gross and net (handicapped) competition, based on player participation.  Approximately $8.00 of your tournament fee goes into the prize distribution; the prizes are awarded in the form of merchandise credit at the golf course’s pro shop.

Scorecard Playoffs are handled in the following manner; GROSS winners are determined by the # 1 Hdcp Hole, then # 2 Hdcp Hole and so on.  NET winners are determined by Hole #1, then #2 and so on, applying strokes where they apply

CGA maintains each member’s handicap based upon CGA scores only.  We provide a CGA handicap card upon request.  The CGA is on-line with the USGA World Wide Handicap System, making it possible for CGA members to maintain their USGA handicaps through the CGA.  The fee for the GHIN service is $30 per calendar year (Jan 01- Dec 31) and is optional.  All attested scores from play at any USGA rated golf courses are eligible for your USGA handicap file.

We are proud to offer the opportunity to play many of the Tampa Bay area’s finest private, semi-private and public golf courses at a very competitive cost.  The typical cost of each tournament is $45 - $60 per player in season (Nov – April) and $40 - $55 per player (May-Oct)/  This fee pays for cart fees, green fees, prize distributions, range balls-where applicable and CGA income.

We email and update the website every two weeks with upcoming tournaments.  We encourage you to enter early as tournaments may fill up quickly.  We also email and update the website after each tournament.

To join CGA simply complete the application, which is provided below.  Make check payable to CGA for $60.  Membership is from Jan 01-Dec 31.

Hope to see you on the golf course real soon!
